Dr. David Long

Dr. David Long has been practicing at this location since the fall of 1971. A Portland native, he was raised in Eastmoreland, earned his BS from Oregon State, and completed dental school at the University of Oregon. He spent three years as an Army captain completing a residency training program in Heilbronn, Germany. He has also been on staff at the VA hospital and OHSU School of Dentistry. Dr. Long performs volunteer denistry at the Creston School and in Southeast Asia; in his spare time he enjoys golfing, traveling with his wife Patty, and spending time with family at the Oregon Coast.

Dr. Matthew Hicks

Dr. Matthew Hicks was raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, he graduated Stanford University with a BA in history and a BS in biology and completed dental school at the University of Alabama. Upon completion of his general practice residency training at OHSU, Dr. Hicks entered private practice as an associate with Dr. Long at this practice in 1997. In early 2004, Dr. Hicks assumed ownership of the practice from Dr. Long. Dr. Hicks has worked in public health clinics in the Tri County area, has been volunteering his services in Mexico and Central America since dental school, and has also been volunteering with Multnomah County's "dental access program" providing dental services to underserved members of our community since 2000. Outside of work, Dr. Hicks' interests include outdoor recreation (surfing, backcountry skiing, fly fishing); environmental advocacy; and enjoying the company of his wife Christine, son Aidan, daughter Juliana, and dog Zahra.

Dr. Rebekah Spencer

Dr. Rebekah Spencer, also a Portland native, attended Oregon State and Concordia Universities, and received her DMD from Oregon Health and Sciences University. She volunteers with Portland East County Clinic, Creston School, and OHSU. Dr. Spencer has a passion for research and collaborates with her sister, a USC epidemiologist, developing ideas and studies which directly impact the field of medicine and dentistry. Her daughter, Jenevieve, is almost two years old and already an avid brusher. Dr. Spencer is very athletic and enjoys all sports that bring a sense of camaraderie.
